Bananal Cove

Bananal cove was a great stage for the sardine factory, where there were two large factories, one on Matariz beach and another on Bananal beach, today the factory on Bananal beach has become an inn and the one on Matariz beach is in ruins.

The cove of bananal has 6 beaches, starting with Aripeba, which has already been mentioned in the cove of Sitio Forte, this beach is well frequented on half-turn tours , the second stop on the tour, good for swimming, but the water is not always so clear for snorkeling, but a great beach to enjoy.

The second beach is Jaconema beach, a small beach, which has two _cc-954cde-bb-33-31 136bad5cf58d_big mussel and shellfish farms, and the local inn usually does guided diving between the farms with tourists who are there or who are just visiting the place during the day.

The next beach is Matariz, where the sardine factories were located, today is the largest village from the bananal cove with some small inns and restaurants  the beach is very close to Jaconema, and you can walk in a few minutes or by kayak.

Bananal beach has the famous pousada do preto, an inn with Japanese culture, where Japanese tourists usually go to the place, and every year there is a festival of Japanese cuisine. Bananal beach has a few inns and restaurants and from there, for those who go around the island, you have the option of taking a trail straight to Saco do Céu or going through the blue lagoon, the trail that goes straight to Saco do Céu leads into around 2 hours of trail while through the blue lagoon it takes around 5 hours.
